Bike route map

Ok so.. with the weather finally changing for the better it’s time to start doing long bike rides to train for the upcoming Bike MS ride in the fall (donate and sponsor me here, you cheapskates!), which will be 200 miles in 200 days.

Last week I took my first “real” long-distance ride outside of Springfield.. I went from the house, hit the South Creek Greenway for a few miles, then hit the farm roads and small highways out to Republic, then cut north a few miles and then turned east again back to Springfield to make a big loop. Ended up being 37 miles, which I rode on the Trek 400. It did great, but I realized I really need to adjust a few things before I take it back out for a long-distance ride. This ride was the blue route on the left side of the map above.

This weekend it’s supposed to hit 60 degrees (!) on Sunday, so I’m heading out again, but this time on the 520, since it’s adjusted to perfection. I think I’ll go east out to Rogersville (the green route above) and then turn south to Ozark to go to my parent’s house for a rest stop. Then head back north and back home. I think my goal will be 40+ miles at least, hoping to take my time and not tire out and hit 50 miles. That would be epic!
